We are continuing with chapter 16 of my book. This was an intense and almost tragic chapter. It was the time that I got into a real bad accident taking my boys to school. Skidding on black ice, totalling the car and almost killing all of us. My oldest, at the time 10 years old, ended up in a body cast for months and my youngest at the time 2 years old, had a very severe concussion, having crossed eyes for a while. Very devastating time for all of us. We were thankful that not one of us died. We truly had to rely on God to help us make it through.
If you ever experienced something like this in your life you know what I am talking about. I had to stay calm and know that God was there helping me every step of the way. You cannot blame God for what happens in this life. I learned that life just happens and sometimes God intervenes, but sometimes He just allows things to happen to us. I am not sure of all the answers why some people die and some are spared but I know that we have to live in this world of sin and nothing will be perfect until Jesus comes and makes it perfect. I suppose it all goes back to the big choice that was made way back in the beginning, in the Garden of Eden. I know I have a lot of questions to ask God someday. Questions that only God can answer correctly. We all have our own opinions on this subject but I think our only job is to believe that God is in charge and He knows what is best for us.
I choose to believe that and I am waiting for Him to come and take us home again someday soon. What a wonderful reunion that will be when we can be with our loved ones again that we have lost through all kinds of ways in this awful, sinful world we live in. May you choose to believe in the hope that God has given us because without that hope, we have nothing to look forward to, except death. Praise God He is coming soon to make all things new!
Our scripture today is found in Psalm 46:1,2. It says "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.
Let not your heart be troubled when calamity strikes. God knows what is happening in your life. You don’t need to be afraid. Have a wonderful day.
Good morning everyone. Where ever you are may today be bright and sunshiny in your heart because you have started the day out with God, how could it be any other way.
In chapter 12 of my book, Journey to a Better Land, I want to talk about laying a good foundation for our children. Starting from the very beginning, while their minds are fresh and young. It is so much harder if we start later in their lives to instill good things into them.
I remember Mark and I going to classes concerning Christian education and getting very convicted on giving our children that start. I know that Christian education begins at home, where it should begin, but we wanted to give that extra boost to our kids, no matter what the cost. After listening to the teacher we decided we wanted this for our children but it was too much money for us. We had to weigh everything to see what would be the best thing for us to do so our children could have this Christian education.
We decided it would be best to sell our home that was costing us too much in mortgage and believe it or not, we bought a 72 passenger school bus. I know that seems like a crazy idea, but to us Christian education was so much more important then a nice home. Besides, Mark could fix this up and it would look like a big motor home when he finished. This decision enabled us to afford the school and we went for it. We felt it was a good choice for us at the time. We wanted to train our children up in the Lord, not thinking of ourselves but their welfare. We felt in our hearts that this major move would pay off in the end. and it did.
Remember to put your children first, thinking of their future and what you would like the finished product to be. God promises if we train our child in the right way, he will remember it some day and come back. I know sometime that is so hard to believe, especially if you have one that is not going in the right direction, but God’s promises are true and our job is to pray every day for them. I have the testimonies to prove that is true and I will be sharing some of it with you as we go along following some of my stories in my book. I too had my share of challenges raising God’s children.
Our scripture for today is found in Proverbs 22:6. It says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Impressions made in childhood are deep. They are difficult to forget. Seek to lay a good foundation for your little ones. God bless you all today as you seek God’s will for your children.
Good morning everyone. I pray you are having a wonderful start to your day. Remembering to start it with God. If you have little ones sit them down for a few moments before breakfast and talk to them about Jesus and how He loves all the little children and He will watch over them through this day. My next chapter, chapter 11, is about my children when they were small. I remember one incident when God was watching over us. We decided to take a walk one day, a very long walk, you can read about the details in my book, Journey to a Better Land, It was a very hot August day and my children were little. I remember how thirsty they were and I forgot to bring water with me. We still had a very long way to go before reaching our destination and I knew that this thirst problem with my boys could turn out disastrous. you know what I mean if you ever had little ones thinking they are in a bad situation:).
I decided to pray right there on the spot concerning our dilemma and when I finished praying I saw, right in front of me, a huge green juicy pepper. Wow! I was thinking, where did this pepper come from? There were only woods all around us, not a house for long way. I knew right then that God sent us that pepper. I picked it up and broke it into pieces and shared it all around which quenched their thirst just fine. I am telling you, I thanked God for His loving watch care over my children.
He is watching over your children too. He really does love it when we tell him our problems and ask Him for specifics. He will always answer, sometime not as clearly as He did that day, but He will answer non the less. Give it a try, who knows, maybe it will be a clear answer. My point is to always give all of our situations, whether good or bad to Him. Remember that He is watching over your children and He does care. He cared enough to answer this mom’s prayer when my little ones needed the help. Not only did He answer then but continued answering every time I needed Him. Our scripture for today is found in Isaiah 54:13. It says “And all your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.”
You can trust your children into God’s hands. Bring them to Him. He is a refuge for them. May you all have a blessed day today.
